Lorna specialises in Valuation and Consultancy within the Childcare and Healthcare sectors where she is passionate about delivering independent, straight-forward and personal advice.  Lorna is MRICS qualified and has over ten years experience in specialist valuation and consultancy work, having been in the surveying field for over 15 years.

As Managing Director at Grove House, Lorna specialises in offering trade-related valuations throughout the sector alongside business consultancy advice.  She takes a professional, enthusiastic and personal approach to understand the goals of each individual business and client. Lorna seeks out opportunities to assist her clients with strategic decisions which enhance trading performance and support them through preparations to formulate an exit strategy.

Based in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, Lorna is ideally situated to provide advice either side of the Pennines and brings her Yorkshire roots and North West experience to Grove House.  With a wealth of 'big five' experience at CBRE and GVA/Avison Young, Lorna transfers her cross-sector market knowledge to this independent niche practice, focusing on areas which she is passionate about.

With a background in residential and LD healthcare schemes alongside specialist care such as Supported and Assisted Living schemes, she also advises clients within the GP and medical sector, particularly for accounting and acquisition purposes for owners and investors alike.

An enthusiastic advocate for women and developing the next generation, Lorna offers her time to her governing body for a number of weeks per year to assess junior surveyors in their professional competence (Chartership) exams.  This is something Lorna thoroughly enjoys alongside providing training and support by mentoring to candidates approaching their exams.

During her down-time, Lorna is found planning her next trip abroad, is rarely seen without artisan coffee and when not working weekends, she is catching up with the latest Formula One action.

Grandpa Ron

Ron lived and worked in Leeds, starting his career as a builder within his father's firm.  He went on to qualify as a master-builder and a renowned architect, pursuing his love for design, demonstrating his intelligent business mind and incredible ability with numbers.

He pushed the business forward as the company's sole architect creating bespoke housing designs for any client, big or small, each with the same attention to design and detail.  Ron even sent floorplan sketches home on the back of letters from the Western Front during WWII where he was invaluable working on artillery calculations behind the front line, when he was not playing piano to entertain his comrades as and when they were able and allowed some down-time.

Ron eventually took on his father's firm which designed and built over 1,000 houses in North Leeds during the inter- and post-war period, in the later years adding flair to bespoke designs across the local region.  There are beautiful examples of his architecture, characterised as the "Collingham style", still iconic today in the north Leeds suburb.  Ron was awarded for his contribution to local housebuilding and design by the Collingham Village Society and offered the Freedom of Leeds, though he would never tell of his achievements save from the adjacent picture showing him proudly accepting his award with his sweetheart, Grandma Jos.  This clipping sat understatedly on their sideboard at Grove House, his family home designed and built to Grandma Jos's exact requirements.

A strong influence on her life and inspiration to her career, naming her firm 'Grove House' is the perfect way for Lorna to honour her Grandpa's legacy in memory of his achievements and their joined love for property, business and a sense of having pride in a good job done well for the right reasons.

Ron designed and built his family home in 1955 which he named "Grove House".

His forever family home, he lived there until he passed away aged 97.

Lorna continues a family tradition of Property and Construction work going back 100 years, focusing on providing high quality customer service with a personal touch and always adding value to her clients.

Sharing a passion for property, Lorna was proud that her Grandpa Ron saw her train, qualify and become a specialist in her field. In a fitting tribute, Lorna brings her skills to Grove House which is named in memory of him.
